Large is too large, small is too small… To make sure I got the right size, I ordered a pair of 7 and a pair of 7.5. Turns out the size 7.0 is too tight - my toes touching the front of the shoe and the 7.5 is so loose that my heel kept sliding up and socks riding down to my feet. I am exchanging them for a pair of M Walk for better luck. The service of Zappos can’t be beat. I am usually too lazy to write review, but you have to give it to Zappos. Excellent customer service.
MBT and foot surgery recovery - I recently underwent surgery for tarsal tunnel surgery along with a partial plantar fascia division. The doctor told me recovery is 8-10 months and I am at 3 months now. I was having trouble finding a comfortable shoe that works well with my situation. Anyway, my sister-in-law recommended MBTs to me, so I went and tried them. I LOVE THEM! My doctor told me that I could work 4-6 hours 2-3 days a week. Well, I actually worked 3-8 hours shifts and my feet felt/feel great! I am a bartender, so I am on my feet 8 hours straight per shift. I would highly recommend these shoes to anyone who is on their feet long term. I definitely intend to buy more pairs of these as soon as I can fit them in my budget! I noticed they have hiking boots, too, which was another one of my concerns. These shoes give me the ability to work and do the things I thought I might not do again for quite some time. Thank God for giving this idea to the creator of MBT shoes!!!
Foot Saver for Plantar Fasciitis! I have been suffering from Plantar Fasciitis for months and was in so much pain. I read about these shoes in a magazine and went to check them out at a local store. Right away they reduced heel pain by taking pressure off. I’ve been wearing them 2 wks full-time (w/ orthotics) and I have more mobility and much less pain. They are very stiff and feel strange but they work. I probably wouldn’t buy if I didn’t have a foot injury.
Comfort in time - I love the idea of this shoe, using muscles in your legs that have been ignored because of flat surfaces. However, it takes a bit of time to get use to and with that comes a bit of discomfort, but over time, (maybe a week or so depending on your physical condition), it becomes a mini workout for your lower body. Now I love wearing them and do so almost every day!
Ugly but fun - I got these after my hair stylist showed them to me. I thought they were hideous (they look like an orthopedic shoe), but was wanting to give my daily walks a bit more of a challenge. It worked — I can really feel it in my legs — but they’re also just more fun to walk in!
Lives Up To Hype, Worth The Price - Pro: Possibly the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. After you get used to MBT, normal shoes feel really weird and unsupportive. Definitely sense different muscles being used when walking or standing. Posture instantly straightens. Zappos shipping/service is incredible. Con: Poor traction. Not sure about durability of materials, especially heel. No research on long term 5-10 year affect of wearing shoes. DVD is slightly cult like. The goofy walk reminds me of John Cleese. I have never spent more than $100 on a pair of shoes–until now. MBT is worth every penny of the $250.
Great Shoes! I have plantar fasciitis with post tibial tendonitis which causes much pain when walking. I wear orthotics everyday and I have had cortisone injections to ease the pain. Finding good shoes has been an expensive process. I own Mephisto’s, Ecco’s, Keen’s, etc. After reading the posted comments about the MBT’s, I decided to try a pair based on the positive reviews. I am happy to say that these are the best of the bunch. I even wear them without orthotics! The comfort they bring me has been remarkable. I would highly recommend them to everyone for prevention of future foot and back problems as well as people with existing injuries. Great job!
Awesome shoe… I’m normally a 5 1/2 or 6 and I ordered a 6 based on other reviews and they fit perfectly. I haven’t had any issues with blisters or discomfort. Actually, I’ve had this problem for ages with nerves or something in a few of my toes getting weird and my toes would cramp up, but since I got these shoes it hasn’t happened once! It’s amazing. Also, you can totally tell your posture is forced to be straight - I find it impossible to slouch while wearing these. And when you walk for awhile, you can feel your calves, thighs and butt working extra hard. They’re really effective at what they’re marketed to do, I think. Not the sexiest shoe, but I got black and they look fine with jeans or long workout pants. I’m glad I got them.
More hype than effective - I’m not really a sneaker wearing kinda gal outside of the gym, but the idea of getting a work-out all day long got me through the vanity thing. I didn’t loose any inches, and I have been faithful in wearing them. The hype was about the toning. Regretfully it is still the no pain no gain rule…these sneakers were more pain in the pocketbook and not much gain.
MBT and plantar fasciitis - These are the only shoes that I can wear all day and be able to walk again at night. I don’t understand WHY. But they are amazing. I bought the sandals within two days I wore these…and haven’t regretted it…so much cheaper than surgery!
Saved my knees! I am an active and athletic woman (used to run track; now I use cardio equipment, lift weights, practice yoga, walk everywhere since I do not drive, and also do step aerobics). My knees have been painful in recent years, limiting my activities. This is due to osteoarthritis and injuries sustained many years ago. So I tried the MBTs. To my delight, I can walk again without pain! I also notice significant toning in my hamstrings after wearing them every day for a few weeks (which I worked up to over the course of the first few days, as recommended). They might look a little funny to some, but I get compliments all the time (on both the Sport Low and my red Lifestyle pair). They fit perfectly and look great with my jeans! Worth every penny!
I’m an MBT convert now! I first saw MBT’s in a local shoe store where I actually tried them on. Then, I decided to buy MBT’s from Zappos because of their excellent selection and service. I started with the MBT Low Sport in black, which I am not wearing with my professional wear — I also bought a pair of MBT Boost’s for working out and general wear. I rotate between the two. MBT’s have totally changed my life. I feel healthier, I’ve already lost weight in all the desirable places, and my posture has improved. It’s like having an elliptical machine with you all the time. I exercise while I’m standing still and walking. Be sure and read the brochure that the shoes come with so you will know the correct way to stand and walk — and — viola — you will see the difference too!
Sneaks VS Sandals - I got the blue sandals and just loved them…no break in period required at all…I ordered the sneakers and I wore them around the house for a week or so…then out running errands and to work…I attempted a 4 mile walk and I got blisters on both heels…I’m still happy with them but they will require working up to my usual walking distance.
Review - Great shoe. Completely (as in miracle) solved my foot problem = Morton’s neuroma. Only complaint: those metal eyelets destroy shoelaces. I own both white and gray types of this same shoe and I have a dickens of a time finding those white and gray shoelaces like the originals. The originals held up the longest. Overall I am very happy with the shoes and even more pleased with Zappos’ service. Thank you very much!
MBT sneakers are a Godsend! I took these on a trip to Italy. By the end of the cruise, 12 other passengers had ordered them online. I wore them every time we had a walking excursion over cobblestone, rocky roads and irregular terrain. I never felt better…AND, they have improved my posture!!!! Best $250 spent in a very long time!
What a Difference - I work at a very busy grocery store and am on concrete 5 hours a day bagging groceries. I have noticed a great improvement in the way my back, hips and knees feel. I am not aching when I get off of work. I have learned if your feet hurt you need better shoes and these are the ones that have worked for me. I have tried other expensive brands that did not provide the support I needed. The arch support in these shoes is excellent but I still needed my prescription orthotics because I have a very high instep. There are 5 other people in this store who are wearing these shoes. I highly recommend these shoes.
Good purchase - First, I ordered these shoes at almost 1am. I live in Florida. They were shipped from Kentucky at 4:30am, and they arrived at my house around 9:30am. In a word: zowie. I walk a lot, and I was looking for shoes that would be good for me. I tried to pick the least goofy looking style of MBTs, but there’s no way around it really. But most people don’t (admit that they) notice my goofy shoes unless I point them out. I wore them at home and work for two or three days to start with, and then I took them on my 4-mile walk. Boy did I feel that the next day. But it didn’t take long at all to get used to wearing them all the time, and now my old shoes feel funny and clunky. Walking in MBTs feels smoother than walking in my old shoes, and I have a feeling my posture is improving, though it’s not something that was ever much in my conscious awareness. Sometimes when I’m walking I can imagine that my body is pretty well aligned, and I don’t have any discomfort in the movement that tells me otherwise.
My best shoe purchase ever! LOVE my MBTs! I was in an auto accident Nov 06, have a bad knee injury that has kept me out of work (fitness instructor). I’ve been wearing my MBTs every day for a week and my knee pain is almost entirely gone! (I used to take pain meds and have to ice it every few hours) I am thrilled! They fit perfect, true to size and are super comfortable. Might not be ‘cute’ but if they get me back to work, they will certainly pay for themselves. I will definitely order more MBTs in the near future. This is my best shoe purchase ever
Actually worth the money! I was skeptical about the claims and very nervous about spending so much money on a pair of shoes. I bought the shoe because some of the other reviews indicated that it helped to get rid of plantar fasciitis. I have been suffering with the crippling heel pain of this condition for more than a year. I’ve done physical therapy and cortisone shots. After 2 weeks in this shoe, I can’t say that the pain is 100% gone, but it’s a bigger improvement than I saw with any of the medical treatments. I hope and believe that after another couple of weeks in this shoe that the pain will be gone. I am also noticing that my posture has improved. Well worth the money! I also found the shoe true to size (same size that I wear in any other athletic shoe).
Fractured L2 and L3 - I fractured my L2 and L3 vertebras in an automobile accident and began walking in my new MBT Sport Lows. The walking was incredible and allowed the cushion required for slow healing and strengthening of my back muscles. I am pondering whether to order another pair for work.
MBT Walking shoes - The wide space at the toe allows me to stretch my toes while walking. There is no cramped feeling. The shoes feel heavy when lifting them, but they are not heavy on the foot. In fact they feel lightweight. Walking as recommended leads to an invigorating walk and I can feel muscles being exercised in the leg and thigh and lower buttock areas.
MBT Sport Shoe - I am very athletic and work out with a trainer three times a week. I also walk for an hour on my days off. The shoe has allowed me to challenge my workout and get the best results. I would recommend the shoe to anyone that wants to challenge themselves a little more!
Help for my knee - These are definitely the most comfortable shoes that I have ever purchased! I thought because of the exercise factor that my legs would be sore, but they feel great! My legs get a lot of support, and it feels like I am walking on a cushion. I could wear these every day! The bonus would be if my legs got in better shape. I guess I will have to wait and see!
Awesome shoes! Life savers if you have plantar fasciitis! I’ve had a lot of trouble with a bad case of plantar fasciitis for several months now. I had been wearing Birkenstocks for several years, which I love, but the lack of cushioning was extremely painful with my foot condition and I bought at least a half dozen pairs of new shoes of various brands trying to find something that would be comfortable with the orthotics and make walking a little less painful. So I saw a recommendation for these shoes and decided to swallow the hefty price tag. I put them on my feet three weeks ago, and walking was immediately nearly pain-free. I bought the sandals the next day and I am always in one pair or the other all day long, even at home. I went from limping almost all the time and pain with nearly every step to only occasional soreness and limping only for a minute after getting up. The difference has been miraculous. When I have been on my feet more than usual and they get a little sore, I switched to the other pair of MBTs and it actually relieves the soreness quite a bit. These sneakers seem to have a bit more stability than the sandals and if you have plantar fasciitis, I would recommend starting with these. A muscle in my leg with the problem foot was extremely tight as well and walking in MBTs loosened up that muscle within a day and has made walking much easier. The price is high (I really wish they were at least $50 less than they are), but it is still cheaper than custom made orthotics which don’t work nearly as well. The company recommends that you don’t wear orthotics with these shoes unless they are specifically made to go with MBTs. I have not worn my orthotics since I got the MBTs and my feet are much better off. As for fit, although I had my foot measured recently as normal width, I almost always buy wide width and much prefer the roominess. I thought I might have to go a size higher than I bought, but when I read that the fit is supposed to be snug, with little toe room, I figured I had the right fit with my usual size. This was confirmed when I went to a specialty shoe store to buy the sandals and they checked the sneakers and said they fit perfectly. If you have a very wide foot, you might want to go with the sandals since they are fully adjustable. Because I have been accustomed to serious arch supports, I thought the lack of an obvious arch support might be problematic. However, because of the way the shoe is designed, the cushiness in the heel and the stability in the middle seem to support the foot’s arch quite well. As for appearance, I think they are very nice looking. They don’t appear any clunkier than most sneakers these days and I really like the appearance of the gray shoes. In short, I wholeheartedly recommend these shoes, especially for people suffering from heel pain or who must stand a lot (it feels great to rock back and forth if you have to stand in place!) I literally put them on before I get out of bed and refuse to wear anything else. I also love that I ordered my shoes at 5:30 on a Monday, and I had them the next afternoon.
Let’s face it. These shoes are UGLY (I own them in black.) But they give you that “Aaah!” feeling from the moment you put them on. I have arthritis in my hip, which has lead to various aches and pains in my back and feet. But when I first tried these shoes on, my pain seemed to melt away. Not only that, but the shoes seem to be strengthening the hip muscles that had become weak as a result of the arthritis. I can feel the improvement in my posture, too. And my little dog is happy that I’ve started walking her again. I’m ordering a pair in a lighter color and different style in the hopes that they look better with summer clothes.
Most Comfortable Shoe EVER!!! I have had serious foot surgeries on both of my feet and I have never walked without being conscious of pain. That is until I bought these shoes. (MBT Sport Low). We just got back from a two week trip to Europe and I walked and walked and walked. I felt like I was walking on air. My fused big toe didn’t hurt at all, and neither did the foot that I had a ruptured tendon repair. I was in heaven! It didn’t take any time for me to get used to these shoes, and wore them all day the first day I got them. Although these shoes are not pretty, I am getting used to them and I have even gotten a few compliments. I only wear them with pants, but I also have the sandals that I can wear with skirts.
A real advance in comfort - I read the ads, was somewhat skeptical, but was delighted to experience that my MBT’s give me less pain in my bad knee and hip when walking, standing and climbing stairs. They are more comfortable than my traditional walking shoes with much less pressure in the toe box. It took me about 20 minutes to get used to them. While they are pricy I feel their comfort is well worth it.
UNBELIEVABLE - I thought yea right, YEA RIGHT!! These shoes are the answer to a LONG, EXPENSIVE search. Believe what we say these are the MOST comfortable shoe you will EVER wear. It is like walking on a pillow. I have had numb, tingling, tired feet for so long. Could NOT get out of bed in the morning without putting on shoes. WOW!! Try them, you will not be disappointed, I had to return the size I originally ordered (touch to tight) called the evening I got them… I had the NEW order when I got home from work the next evening! BRAVO to the customer service and the free shipping is a big, big plus! GET THESE SHOES. I am going for the sandals next! Update ya on these, too!!
